Harvey L. Benenson
Harvey L. Benenson is a Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of LB&Co. Prior to co-founding LB&Co. in 1988, Mr. Benenson was a Director of Ayers, Whitmore & Company Inc. for five years and a Principal of Cresap, McCormick and Paget Inc. for nine years. When Cresap, McCormick and Paget Inc. merged into Towers Perrin, Mr. Benenson became a partner of that firm. Throughout his thirty-five year consulting career he has focused on the management disciplines central to LB&Co.'s practice - organization planning, executive compensation, corporate governance and human resources management.
Mr. Benenson has been the leader of a wide range of organization and compensation work for such clients as ACTV, Inc., Baxa Corporation, Beacon Roofing Supply, Inc., Becton, Dickinson & Company, Blockbuster Inc., Cablevision Systems Corporation, CKX, Inc., Caraustar Industries, Inc., Cognitive Arts Corporation, eTelecare Global Solutions, Inc., Flowserve Corporation, Goldman Sachs Special Situations Group, Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc., IBM, Ideal Basic Industries, Inc., Imperial Sugar Company, Liggett Group, Lowe's Companies, Inc., LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, NL Industries, Madison Square Garden, Maxim Crane Works L.P., Owens-Illinois, Picis, Inc., POOL Corporation, Safelite Group, Inc., Schieffelin & Co., SunEdison, LLC, Taft Broadcasting Company, and Tecumseh Products Company.
Prior to becoming a management consultant, Mr. Benenson was Assistant to the Vice President - Research and Assistant Treasurer of R.H. Macy & Co., Inc., and a Director in the Finance Group of Abraham & Straus. He also served on the legislative staff of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Mr. Benenson holds an A.B. degree from the University of Illinois, an M.P.A. degree from New York University and an M.B.A. degree from Cornell University. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Hinda Distributors, Inc. and the Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Council. Mr. Benenson recently completed an 18-year term as a member of the University of Illinois Foundation, a four-year term as a member of the Cornell University Council, and a six-year term as a Director of Penn Octane Corporation. Mr. Benenson is past Chairman of the Board of Directors of University Settlement Society of New York and a former Trustee of Muhlenberg College.
